For the fourth time, Croatia is part of the national student competition L’Oreal Brandstorm. This year the winners were announced at the HUB385 innovation center in Zagreb. They presented their concepts to an excited audience of about 60 people including Brigitte Streller, Managing Director L’Oreal. Being the front runners in the area of future skincare the students were honored to be chosen for the global competition, which will be held in Paris.
Fresh ideas for the beauty industry
The challenge this year was to provide innovative solutions that improve the user experience of pharmaceutical brands. Students from all faculties were allowed to participate, which fostered collaborative thinking and the creation of synergies beyond their usual fields of knowledge.
Under the motto ‘play, experiment, innovate’ ten teams from Croatia and Serbia came together to disrupt the future of beauty. The best among them was the ‘Chinchillas Team’ of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences from Belgrade. Overall 35.000 students from more than 70 countries are getting the chance to be innovative in the beauty industry and to win a quarterly practice at the world’s largest startup campus, Station F, in Paris on May 23.
The winners mastered the tech challenge
“Our solution is a face mask that analyzes the skin using an integrated mobile application. The mask provides accurate analysis through sensors, and an added benefit is the ability to consult a pharmacist.”

Brandstorm is one of the largest student competitions in the world. Over the past 25 years, more than 95,000 students have participated. For a long time, the competition has been aimed at students with a marketing focus. Since 2017 there is also a tech challenge as the beauty industry is becoming more and more digital. The winners have the chance that their ideas are brought to the market by the world market leader in cosmetics. For L’Oréal, Brandstorm is a great opportunity to get in touch with new talents.
